Johan Malmstedt is a doctoral student in media and communication studies with a focus on the digital humanities at the Department of Cultural and Media as well as Humlab, Umeå University. He has a background in the history of ideas as well as digital humanities, and is interested in the relationship between audio and thought. Audio archives – both as a source of knowledge and as a historical phenomenon – are the focus of his dissertation, which aims to map audio reproduction media and audio documents during Swedish modernity, including how to explore and analyze these materials as information carriers.
